Chapter 3

In the Community

Supporting the community – in business and in leisure – is a significant part of my ethos. The more we give, the more we receive – and supporting others to be successful is what I do best.

All Words Matter has sponsored awards for Free2Network and BizMums, promoting small businesses and their leaders.

I am on the organising committee for Wrexham Carnival of Words – an annual literary festival in Wrexham, North Wales.

I coordinate online book clubs and writers’ groups and on the Committee for the Carnival of Words Writers’ Group in North Wales.

My volunteer activities include being a member of many committees, particularly with the Mold Rugby Club. Whenever an opportunity to become involved in a community or charity project appears, I’m often the first to raise my hand!

I am an active networker and also host my own group twice a month in Cheshire. Business growth comes from connecting with like-minded people. Particularly when you work from home, it is important to make an effort to meet other people – be inspired by their businesses and learn from their creative adventures. Networking is the most effective way of building strong working relationships and is the key reason All Words Matter is thriving.
